Silk Clothing Care Guide: Extend the Service Life of Silk Garments

Silk is a delicate natural fiber, and its long-term performance depends heavily on correct care. Many customers love silk clothing but are unsure how to wash, dry, and store it properly. Providing clear care guidance can improve satisfaction and extend product lifespan.

Hand washing in cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent is usually the safest method. Silk garments should not be rubbed aggressively, twisted, or wrung out forcefully, as these actions can damage fibers and create permanent creases.

Dry cleaning is often a better choice for structured silk dresses, tailored silk blouses, or garments with complex details. It reduces the risk of shrinkage, color bleeding, and texture change.

For drying, silk should be kept away from direct sunlight and high heat. Excessive UV exposure can fade colors and weaken fibers. Instead, dry silk garments in a cool, shaded area and reshape them gently while damp.

When storing, keep silk in a dry, ventilated space and avoid hanging heavy items on the same hanger. Using a breathable garment bag also protects it from dust, moisture, and snags.
